Story of Jin

I regularly attend the weekly Friday lecture delivered by different Ustazahs at HQ Building. All of them are really good, mashaAllah, especially Ustazah Faridah Hanum. Hailed from Singapore, i think she is full of wisdom. I like her talks so much! Alhamdulillah.

The topic presented by her during last week`s session was tafseer of Surah Jin. You know, i remember one of Ustazs told me that there are two topics that always successful in grabbing full attention from the audience: Nikah  and Jin (World of the unseen). So the topic of Jin , and unseen world, I couldn`t agree more that it really makes us glued to our seat. There are many new knowledges about Jin that I have acquired from the talk. Previously, I only get to know more about Jin from lectures given by Ustaz Ismail Kamus.

Jin, shaytan , iblis belong to the same category. They are all made from fire. You know fire consists of different colors: hottest being green, followed by blue, yellow and red. The trio are made from different colors, but the root is shared. Iblis is on the top leadership rank for all three and in fact, it used to be the leader of all angels before it decided to go against Allah`s order to prostrate to Adam A.S. Iblis is still alive  until now since Allah has granted his special request to remain alive until the day of judgement.

All this while I thought there are many Iblis. However, the truth is there is none but only one Iblis. Indeed Iblis is its real name. It has followers and they are the shayateen. Jin who are non Muslims and the followers of Iblis are called shayateen while those who embrace Islam are the Muslim Jins. According to Ustazah, Iblis, being the CEO of its own company which consists of Shayateen and himself, would hold regular daily meeting discussing its normal agenda of how to deviate people from true path. Post mortem will be done and how to improve their plan is discussed during the meeting. Quite funny, but true fact.

We frequently hear people saying that it is not advisable to be outside of house after sunset just before maghrib for fear or possibility of being haunted by ghosts. Well, it is not really false notion since the ustazah said that it is indeed when shayateen switch their working shift. Those of day shift finish their shift and rise up above and will be replaced by night shift shayateen.  So, u know it is just like a factory during shift changing hour where it gets so busy and chaos with people punching in and out their ID card and getting in and out. So the chance of us getting confronted by these being is higher at that hour. So better to stay inside the house. Again, quite funny but true fact.

The mat rempit jalanan are usually those who lack of upright characters and pretty wild  youngsters and also school droppers. Well, it is not unique to human being only. As a matter of fact, there are also this type category of Jin. The difference is, these Jin do not go 'rempiting', rather they go to disturb people by making their way into somebody`s body and taking control of it. Or in simpler term, 'merasuk' people.

During Prophet`s life, he used to go preaching to this community of Jin whereby in doing so, he would bring along two sahabah with him. Upon reaching the place, he would 'fence' off the two sahabah by making line on ground and reciting du`a so that the sahabah are protected from being seen by the Jin. Ustazah said Jin likes human because it is such a high privilege for them if they can befriend human being. She further elaborated that  for Jin, it`s like raising their rank up if they can become close to people, just like if we, average class people getting close to Datuk-datuk. Agai, quite funny but true fact.

It is the same obligation to Jin as human in which we have to obey Allah and his orders. Jin too have to acquire sufficient Islamic knowledge and be educated. And bear in mind their ratio to people is 99:1. Whenever there is 'majlis ilmu' attended by people, they are there too joining the people, just that we can`t see them. Since their ratio is 99:1 to us, say if there are only 10 people in certain majlis, their number might be much much more. Subhanallah.
